BOARDS & COMMISSIONS FELLOWSHIP

Applications for the 2027 Boards and Commissions Cohort are open!

Priority applications will be accepted until 11:59pm on Sunday, November 1st.

Gaps in knowledge lead to gaps in perspective. This is why our Fellowship is designed to increase the representative diversity on Idaho boards and commissions by focusing our recruitment on communities that haven’t previously had opportunities to become involved. We provide training, tools, and networks for individuals to feel capable and confident stepping into public leadership roles.

The program runs annually from March through August. Applications open in October. The program requires a commitment of 15-20 hours per month. Our program is largely in-person in Boise. No previous experience in policy and/or conservation is required!

THREE PILLARS OF OUR PROGRAM

INcrease representation

Our Fellowship program is designed to increase the representative diversity on Idaho boards and commissions by recruiting women, people of color, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, and other underrepresented groups in Idaho to serve the community on public boards and commissions.

develop civic leadership skills

The Boards and Commissions Fellowship program helps our fellows develop civic leadership skills by providing monthly trainings, pairing fellows with one-on-one coaching with mentors, and providing hands-on experience with parliamentary procedure, how decisions are made, and more.

provide policy training

Fellows will gain critical conservation policy knowledge during the program, in order to give them the tools they need to successfully advance conservation policy while serving on a local board or commission such as planning & zoning commissions, parks and recreation commissions, and more
